Exposed Concrete House in Chile

Beautiful modern house on the hill of Chilean sea coast decided with warm, organic ambiance and elegant interior solutions. Lately, more and more architects and contemporary designers re-discover the beauty of organic and vernacular decor details in combination with modern structures and materials.

This gives unique purity and elegant aesthetics of the home’s composition. In the case of this modern house, the architects from Gonzalo Mardones V Arquitectos used double-height volumes and clear-lined concrete shell to host an interior that entwines pine and wooden frames and cladding with linen textures and vernacular decor details. The result is luminous and clean ambiance with characteristic seaside spirit and modern easiness of movement and distribution of space.

The first level of the house (that hosts the social areas, the open floor plan of kitchen, living and dining room assembly) opens towards the terrace deck with the infinity swimming pool and barbecue areas creating easy access and guaranteeing an easy flow for the everyday activities. Small kitchenette niche with custom made wooden shelving and breakfast bar structures give a specific charm and organic feel that goes very well with the rest of the first-floor social areas arrangement. The inviting and trendy large sofas with their soft textural presence invite for relaxation and leisure time.

The monochrome color palette is not disturbed by stronger color accents, but gray, white, beige and caramel wood entwine in well balanced organic hues. Vernacular style and local craft decor items give characteristic charm to the interior. Straight lines, modern minimalist shapes, glass partitions, and open facade connect the house spirit with its modern time context, but the rest of the home decor is a translation of vernacular and organic beach-life to a modern dynamics. Infinity pool creates a connection between the home and the calling of the sea.

Modern pieces of furniture and lighting solutions combine beautifully with custom made elements, organic decor details, and traditional craft. Osier and woven furniture pieces and lamps, linen upholsteries and curtains, and blond wood details straighten the luminous and pure feel of the decor composition. We just love it when contemporary designers successfully combine local traditions, organic lifestyle and vernacular details whit minimalist modern architectural shell and easygoing comfort.  Photography by Nico Saieh;
