Is it possible to design a minimalistic like a sketch house that is cheerful, welcoming and trendy at the same time? This Israeli project of Paz Gersh Architects is so light, with open free-float spaces and minimalistic – only outlined architectural structure and partitions that create the impression of being bigger that what it is.
The house is created for a family with children, so its stylish, trendy outlook meets naturally with high functionality and easiness of usage. The premises are white, open and interconnected- this arrangement creates lightness and cheerful ambiance for the house. The central focal point of the living quarters becomes the cantilevered staircase, which bespoke construct serves as a book shelving and decorative element. This two story steel library acts not only as partition but also as a connection between the floors and zones. It’s white, an airy construct is supplemented by the spacious whites of the walls and the smooth surfaces of the floors.
The furnishing solutions are soft, comfortable and deliberately colorful- to create an accent with the lightness of the main constructs. The wooden additions (as kitchen furnishing, construction elements, and cladding) are additionally warming and vitalizing the spaces. The patio that acts as a green center for the house arrangement gives certain Mediterranean taste to this suburban contemporary home. Photographs: Oded Smadar
