Two Storey Concrete and Timber Frame House

0

Modern urban home with concrete and timber, this two-storey annex was designed by Australian studio Nobbs Radford Architects. The extension is created to provide a home with a new open-plan living and dining space, as well as extra bedroom and bathroom spaces. The facade creates an interesting illusion by alternating rectangularly and protruding concrete blocks with black steel- framed windows, creating hidden niche spaces in the inside.

In the interior, the clear elegance and warmth of the oak furniture and joinery is cleverly juxtaposed to the modernistic and urban sensation of the exposed concrete structures. The smooth pine floors and the contemporary furnishing in neutral colors create light and stylish interior that feels modern and welcoming. The whole premise is filled with materials and interior design elements that give a clean, open sensation, adorned by some interesting art elements and details like the amazing timber staircase with shelves on the side of its treads or the huddled, under the sloped roof, children’s corner.  Using the abundance of natural light, interesting architectural structures and raw materials the creators of the project succeed in developing an elegant, functional and modern home addition.
