The collaboration with Akira Isogawa for Designer Rugs started as a limited edition collection in 2005 and was an exercise in balance and harmony through colour. Public demand insisted on a second collection, where Akira further explored the possibilities of realising his beautifully colourful creations in the unique medium of rug design. The innovation and beauty demonstrated in his previous Designer Rug collections has been amplified with the introduction of bamboo as a renewable material in Akira’s Ayame and Shibori designs. The beauty of the New Zealand wool rugs is complemented with the more durable, resilient and environmentally sustainable attributes of bamboo.via
