Three-Dimensional Rug
3.02.2011
French designer Matali Crasset has collaborated for the first time with contemporary rug company, Nodus to create ‘roots’. The woolen rug has four levels of height giving it three-dimensional quality that resembles the root system of a centuries-old tree. Measuring 220cm in diameter, the rug which is crafted by hand features irregularly shaped pieces that extend past the edge. Twisted fringes of varying lengths are made out of cotton and dyed to match the wool then attached to the parts that reach beyond the borders of the rug, representing the follicle. via
