Vallila Interior’s spring collection 2010
27.04.2010
Vallila Interior’s spring collection 2010 goes by the name “Roots & Wings”. This is a title of many meanings. Roots describe the long tradition the company has in interior design and textile retail sales. Roots also mean home, which Vallila Interior has in Helsinki. In addition to the blossoming flower prints, there are also three prints with a Helsinki theme in the spring collection. They show us Bulevardi, Sinebrychoff’s park and Valkosaari island located in front of Helsinki. These prints with the Helsinki theme are designed by Tanja Orsjoki and Matleena Issakainen.

Wings refers to travels that the designers made while looking for inspiration for the spring collection. Literally wings are shown in Matleena Issakainen’s print Lurking eagle and its colourful eagle feathers, and Tanja Orsjoki’s flying butterflies in Mon Amour print. In addition to Orsjoki and Issakainen, Vallila Interior’s spring collection is designed by Markku Piri and Zoltan Popovits. Popovits is best known for his sculptures and jewelry that he has designed for Lapponia Jewelry, this is his debut as a textile designer. There’s a breath of Hungary in Popovits’ textiles. Markku Piri designed graphic prints for Vallila Interior’s autumn collection in 2009. Now these successful prints have gotten new, lighter spring colours. Warm, geometric patterns in his prints are like fragments of old buildings.
