Traditional Motifs
17.11.2009
Two japanese designers project their cultural backgrounds into modern pieces of furniture, the result is refreshing and meaningful. Inspired in the traditional motifs of Japanese kimonos and using the symbols assigned to the various mistresses of the 11th century, fashion artist Akira Isogawa created a series of colourful patterns that strike for their modern geometry and brilliant colour schemes. The striking patterns are digitally printed on a series of wooden low tables, specially designed by Fukutoshi Ueno to enhance the unique motifs; the geometrical, multi-faceted line of the tables play with the contrast of the different motifs and their traditional yet contemporary nature.
